Air Intake Screens
For HVAC Systems
Protect Your Air Handling Units with High-Performance Air Intake Screens
At Bremaco Ltd, we specialise in the supply and installation of air intake screens for HVAC systems, helping commercial and industrial facilities protect critical equipment from airborne debris, environmental contaminants, and premature wear.
Air intake screens act as the first line of defence for Air Handling Units (AHUs), chillers, rooftop units, and other HVAC equipment. Without proper filtration at the intake stage, your system becomes vulnerable to clogged coils, restricted airflow, reduced efficiency, and costly downtime.
.

Why Air Intake Screens Are Needed
Air handling systems draw in massive volumes of outdoor air, which often carries:
-
Leaves, grass, and pollen
-
Litter and plastic bags
-
Dust, insects, and bird nesting materials
-
Industrial pollutants or airborne debris
Over time, this debris accumulates on coils and filters, reducing system performance and increasing energy use. Air intake screens stop debris before it enters, extending the life of internal components and improving air quality. Maintenance is also easier, as screens can be removed and cleaned quickly.
.

How to Know When You Need an Air Intake Screen
Your HVAC system may benefit from air intake screens if you notice:
-
Visible debris around or on air intake louvers
-
Poor system airflow or rising energy bills
-
Increased frequency of filter replacements
-
Excessive dirt and grime on coils or inside ducts
-
Frequent service calls related to air quality or system performance
Air intake screens are especially useful in environments such as:
-
Facilities near trees, construction sites, or roads
-
Buildings with flat or low roofs exposed to the elements
-
Warehouses and logistics hubs where debris is common
.

Air Intake Screen Examples
Bare Louvre
- Louvre allows ingress of foreign materials
- Internal workings such as coils and filers will become blocked over time
New Screen Installed
- New screen installed.
- Maintenance of screen is much easier
- Reduced maintenance costs over time.

The Process
Enquiry
Please contact us on sales@bremaco.co.uk with all of the information you have. Photos, videos, sheet data, descriptions, all can help us gather as much information as possible before attending site.
First Survey
Once we have received your enquiry, we shall organise a visit to your site at a time convenient for you to complete a survey. This survey is for pricing purposes only. Please keep in mind that your AHU may need to be shut down prior to any survey taking place. All shut downs must be by the customer.
Quotation
Once your site visit has taken place, we shall go away and produce a quotation for the works which you require.
Order and Second Survey
Once a purchase order has been received, we will send further operatives to site to carry out a second detailed survey for measurements so we can manufacture your air intake screens. Once this has been done, they will be put into manufacture.

What you Receive
Installed screens
Our screens are installed by one of our hand picked contractors.
Maintenance
Maintenance of screens is easy. Just remove the screen, clean and re-attach.

Frequent Questions
How long do AHU coils typically last?
With proper maintenance, AHU coils can last between 10–15 years. However, this varies depending on system usage, water quality, and environmental conditions.
What causes coil corrosion?
Coil corrosion can be caused by poor water treatment, external environmental factors, lack of maintenance, or air contamination (e.g. from nearby industrial activity).
Can you replace coils on older or discontinued AHUs?
Yes. We can fabricate replacement coils to match the original dimensions and performance requirements, even for older or obsolete units.
Do you provide specialist coils
Yes, for buildings such as hospitals, our coils are built to HTM (Health Technical Memorandum) -03 specifications.
